Environmental Fee

Each time a new tyre is placed on the market, provision needs to be made for its management when it becomes waste. For this reason, Italian legislation makes provision for an environmental fee, a small amount added to the bill for the purchase of new tyres, which covers the costs of sending the ELT for recovery, and is collected by the producer or importer.

EcoTyre collects this environmental fee raised by its members and uses it to manage the logistic chain needed to transform ELTs into  secondary raw resources in line with concept of a circular economy, in the most efficient way possible.

The fee level is calculated annually based on the actual management costs sustained by the consortium, and it is thanks to the efficiency of EcoTyre’s system that it has managed to maintain the level of the fee as one of the lowest in the sector.

The table below summarises the environmental fee levels adopted by EcoTyre starting from 1/1/2021, for the various classes of tyres treated.
