EcoTyre is taking part in the 30th edition of Autopromotec, the most specialised international trade fair for automotive equipment and the aftermarket, currently under way in Bologna, to present its new 2025 report (all figures refer to 2024) and the latest developments in the From Rubber to Rubber project (Stand E44 – Hall 20).

A total of 44,548,474 kg of ELTs were collected across every Italian region: of these, around 42 million kg came from the national replacement network (tyre dealers), 2 million kg from ACI vehicle dismantlers, and the remainder from the extraordinary collections carried out under the "PFU Zero" project. The annual target set by law was once again met and exceeded.
Over 14 years of activity, EcoTyre has sent approximately 583.5 million kg of ELTs for proper recovery — equivalent to around 77 million individual tyres which, laid end to end, would stretch further than the Earth's circumference at the equator.
A further 77 extraordinary operations were carried out in 2024, recovering 470,590 kg of abandoned ELTs. Delivered in partnership with organisations including Legambiente, Marevivo and Fare Verde, these operations have made a significant contribution to the environmental restoration of numerous areas, improving the safety and healthiness of public spaces.
Overall, pick-up punctuality remained very high: 80.20% of collections were made on time in urban areas and 74.22% in outlying areas.
Full collection data is available in real time on the Consortium's website, where tables and charts allow visitors to track pick-ups by geographical area, type of ELT and tyre dealers served.
For 14 years, from Alpine municipalities to the smaller islands, every Italian territory has been served thoroughly and efficiently by EcoTyre, with operations supported by 77 Logistics Partners — companies specialising in reverse logistics — and 19 Recycling Partners handling treatment and recovery.
EcoTyre was the first organisation to set itself the ambitious goal of closing the loop on rubber circularity: making it possible to use rubber derived directly from ELTs in the production of tyres and other rubber goods such as hoses, seals, bitumen and more.
This pioneering project has made it possible for industry to use Devulprene® — a material obtained by devulcanising ELT granulate — in the manufacture of new tyres and other rubber products.
The Consortium generates economic value of approximately €17.5 million, making it comparable to a medium-to-large industrial operation, with a total of 107 people employed directly and indirectly plus two external specialists dedicated to research and development. It continues to lead Italy for the number of Italian, European and international members who entrust EcoTyre with managing the end of life of the new tyres they place on the market each year (816 Members).
"We are very pleased with the results achieved again this year. Our collection system has once more proved to be thorough, covering every corner of Italy and guaranteeing an efficient service even in the most remote areas and to the smallest operators, in line with our commitment to leave no one behind," comments Enrico Ambrogio, President of EcoTyre. "What we are presenting here at Autopromotec in 2025 is the result of a challenge we have won with the From Rubber to Rubber project: it is now possible to produce and use Devulprene® in place of virgin rubber. At the stands of two partner companies you will find tyres, already on the market, that contain devulcanised rubber derived directly from ELTs."
"Visitors will also be able to preview our new AI-powered virtual assistant, which will simplify the way tyre dealers request support and assistance and keep them updated in real time on the status of their collection orders. It is a cutting-edge tool that follows the same path of transparency and efficiency as all the services we provide," Ambrogio concludes.
